August 19th – 23rd

Thank you to everyone who turned out at Curriculum Night to learn about your child’s 4th grade year.


A.G.E. [Growth Education] forms will be coming home. Only sign and return if you do NOT want your child participate in the class.

Cereal Box Project [based on a California place of interest] is due on September 9th.  Students will be ‘sharing out’ about their findings.  Have some family fun with this project.

Upcoming FIELD TRIP on October 29th to Copley Symphony. We will let you know of the cost as soon as we figure out transportation details.

Please fill out your conference form as soon as possible in order for us to assign a date and time to each family. Conference dates will be September 12th – 19th.

This week in;

Language Arts – We are continuing our work on “The State Government and It’s Citizens.” We are reading to identify the main idea and key details. We make inferences by using the text and our schema or background knowledge.

Math – We will continue to review addition/subtraction word problems using tape diagrams. Also, begin concepts in multiplying by 10, 100, 1000 and multiply using the distributive property.

Writing – Proofread our narrative story and complete the final copy.

                Mini lessons in ‘Show Don’t Tell’ and Using other words instead of said.

                Another focus: punctuation in dialogue.

Social Studies – California regions Flip Book

Science – Physical Science – Force
